The Architect. The Art Curator. The ex-AMA Pro Racer. The Two-Time Cancer Survivor. The Electrician. Woolie. The panel of judges for The 2016 Bike Build Off at Deus Venice was akin to real live team of comic book heroes, each bringing an amazing and awkward superpower to the table, and all of whom get pretty jazzed on motorbikes and fit surprisingly well into normal society despite their otherworldly faculties. They had a difficult task on Saturday September 24th of picking the top 3 entrants to advance into the Global People's Choice Award that will be announced at EICMA in Italy this November (more on that later). It must be prefaced here that the whole judgment on enthusiasm and "the most with the least" guidelines which are the whole premise of The Bike Build Off (Of Boundeless Enthusiasm) is a bit difficult to define in quantitative measures, tally up, and come to a civil agreement upon. Each and every bike entered into Saturday's Build Off was worthy of some sort of award to attribute to each's own prescription, dosage, and strain of the Enthusiasm and scope of inventiveness. But alas, The Panel deliberated while the masses cast their votes for People's Choice. People's Choice - Michael Fröelich / David Wong(owner) - '82 Yamaha SECA 400* 1 - Jeff Wolf - WCC 200cc Board Tracker 2 - Anthony Scott - Yamaha RD400 3 - Colin Stinson - '79 Ducati GTS 900 Small Bore - Jay Lossa - CT90 "CT-BMX" Race Category - Adam Sheard - 67 BSA 250 flat tracker Pro Category- Lindsay Ross / Alex Kors (Pista) - Yamaha WR400F "Case Study Tracker" Our good friend Nico who many know as the artist Ornamental Conifer dropped by the Build Off while some paint was was drying at his studio up the street. His vote went to Patrick Sarnacki's blue Yamaha DT175 with the beer essentials integrated into the seat. Cheers to that one! *Fun fact: We find out later that this exact bike was previously THE ZISSOU which was auctioned for charity and won by David Wong back in March. We didn't even recognize it! A heartfelt Thank-You to Jason McCann, Stacie London, Brice Cooper, Jay Lossa, and Greg Landers for joining Woolie on the judging panel.

Online voting for the global people's choice award opens this Friday the 30th of September at bikebuildoff.com, where you will be able to look through all the winners from Sydney, Milan, Tokyo, Bali and LA - Make sure to get your vote in for the one you like.
