In Full Flow' by IKI
We were super stoked to have the Japanese Artist known as ‘Iki’ over here hanging out at the Temple of Enthusiasm during our Slidetober Fest festivities last weekend. As well as putting together an art exhibition ‘In Full Flow’, for the Deus Gallery, the ever smiling creator was down the beach and track supporting all the boys in all the events and putting his touch on an Elders Helmet, which was the Trophy for the Slidetober cup ,which went to the overall winner of the Festival, this year that was Forrest Minchinton. Iki says that he uses a ‘doodle / modern graffiti style to convey his message as quickly and concisely as possible and is inspired by the environment he surfs in and the world that occurs around him. He channels his vision into a passion for natural shapes and textures, resulting in some truly unique surf related art pieces, which definitely showed when it came to the opening of ‘In Full Flow.’ The Deus gallery was packed with people from all walks of life, enjoying his illustrative spin on the world around him. The show is up for the next 6 weeks, so if you are in town, swing by and check it out!
